Marketplace Direct Limited respects your privacy. This policy applies when you visit our website, contact our recruitment team or participate in our recruitment and onboarding process. We process personal data in accordance with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Who we are
Marketplace Direct Limited is the data controller responsible for the personal information covered by this policy.
Company No. 09608670
Registered office: 167-169 Great Portland Street, London, England, W1W 5PF
Email: recruitment@marketplacedirect.uk
2. Information we may collect
- Contact details such as your name, email address, telephone number and country.
- Application information, work history, skills, availability and communications with us.
- Identity and eligibility information where genuinely required for a role, company appointment, right-to-work check, KYC or platform verification.
- Technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information and basic server logs.
3. How we use your information
- To respond to enquiries and communicate with you.
- To assess suitability and manage recruitment, onboarding and related checks.
- To verify identity or eligibility when legally or operationally required.
- To prevent fraud, protect candidates and maintain service security.
- To meet legal, regulatory and record-keeping obligations.
4. Our lawful bases
Depending on the circumstances, we rely on steps taken at your request before entering into a contract, performance of a contract, compliance with a legal obligation, our legitimate interests in operating a safe and effective recruitment process, or your consent. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.
5. Sharing your information
We only share personal information where necessary. Recipients may include authorised staff and contractors, recruitment or communication providers, identity and KYC providers, professional advisers, regulators, Companies House and relevant third-party platforms used for a specific opportunity. We do not sell personal information.
6. International transfers
Some service providers or platforms may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where required, we use recognised safeguards such as UK adequacy regulations or approved contractual protections.
7. How long we keep information
We retain recruitment information only for as long as necessary. Unsuccessful applicant records are normally kept for up to six months after the recruitment process ends, unless you agree to a longer talent-pool period or a legal requirement applies. Successful applicant, contractual, verification and financial records may be retained longer where required by law or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. Information is then securely deleted or anonymised.
8. Security
We use proportionate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information. Where an official platform offers direct identity verification, we may ask you to submit information directly to that platform rather than through general messaging services.
9. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may ask us to access, correct, erase or restrict your personal information, object to processing, receive portable data, or withdraw consent. You also have the right not to be subject to a solely automated decision that has a legal or similarly significant effect. We do not currently make recruitment decisions solely by automated means.
10. Website data and external links
We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies on this page. Our hosting provider may process basic technical logs required to deliver and secure the website. Links to WhatsApp, Companies House or other third-party services are governed by those providers’ own privacy policies.
11. Contact and complaints
To ask a privacy question or exercise your rights, email recruitment@marketplacedirect.uk and use “Privacy Request” as the subject. We may need to confirm your identity before responding.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please contact us first. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
We may update this policy when our services or legal obligations change. The latest version will be posted here with a revised date.
